A Movie I Can't Deal With Anymore

Please stop quoting the Princess Bride as if it’s a movie that you’ve seen and no one else has. Yes, everyone loved the movie. Yes, it has lived an incredibly long life, especially in this vicinity. Do you realize that it’s been 19 years since it was released? NINETEEN YEARS.

It’s not funny anymore!

I swear if someone drops a quote around me from that movie and thinks they’re being clever I will scream (or write Hillary Part Duex, whichever is more horrifying to you.) The Princess Bride is not an inside joke. You are not amusing when you quote it. This goes triple if you are under the age of 19.

In fact, you need to stop dropping P.B. quotes immediately (with two exceptions: using To Blathe casually in conversation and engaging in a discussion on land wars in Asia.)

That is all.

Oh yeah, and Matt LeBlac, you’re a tool.

I must admit that "never get involved in a land war in Asia" still makes me giggle, but only when I happen to see that part of the movie whilst flipping through channels.

I'm curious - was there a recent incident of quoting that inspired this post?

I feel this way about Monty Python's Serach for the Holy Grail. But, I guess each generation must discover for itself...

Cabesh, I'm picking up what you're putting down.

ELTF,
It's just been building for a few years. Nothing in particular set me off, just the accumulation of it all. Is there no film that you wish would just stop?

Amen, Sistah Lite!!! I am SO OVER that movie (and Holy Grail), and have been since my freshman year at the BY way back in '94.

Ladies,
The Elders in my MTC district couldn't get enough of Holy Grail quotes, and I couldn't get enough of wishing they would can it. Even 10 years later, I get annoyed just thinking about it.

I will admit it. I'VE ALWAYS HATED THE PRINCESS BRIDE. HATED IT. HATED IT. HATED IT. Thank you, Carina, I feel much better

As you wish...

Mmmmmm no. Can't do it. WON'T do it. So sorry. Oh, and might I add that it is absolutely impossible to rid yourself of Princess Bride. It's just too ingrained. You'll still find yourself quoting it (inadvertently or not).

Oh, and for those of you who caused Carina to rant/rave - you should be ashamed of yourselves.
