Another Friday Night...

Would you like to attend the Bankhead-Rawson wedding?

My favorite part about this cake is that when the bride saw it her jaw literally dropped. Awesome.

Top tier, carrot; second, raspberry cheesecase; third, chocolate with dulce de leche; bottom, lemon poppy-seed, all encased in real cream cheese frosting. Those star gazers smelled like heaven.

Want to know what the cake looks like in one hour?

Cakes are ephemera, blink and they're gone.

Unforgettable . . . that's what you are . . . ."

I cannot believe I have actually had lunch with you. Why did I not ask for your autograph?

Please, someone, get married, and invite me to the reception (but only if Carina-cakes are present)!

(We do lots of wedding announcements . . . do you like to hire yourself out? I would happily spread the word.)

Dude, I have a vat of leftover cream cheese frosting, get that GLO bum of yours over here to consume the rest of it.

I have a funny story to tell you about the orange shoes.

Geo- not yet, not yet. I had three different people ask me for my name/business tonight. I had to regretfully inform them that it's just for friends and family. Maybe I really could do this eventually fulltime.

Carina...those are magnificent...

I love Stargazer Lilly's, I love the smell (but I am allergic to them). Lily's and cheesecake is my version of heaven.

You should start a business. Today.

Okay, I am being 100% honest when I say that that is the most beautiful wedding cake I have ever seen. If I get ever get married, and if I actually have a wedding (i.e., if I decide to not elope, which is what I'm totally planning on doing), I am flying you down here to Louisiana so you can make my cake.

I love that each layer is a different flavor--no committing to "one flavor" GENIUS!!! (hey, is that the Losee's backyard?)

I decided that I am getting married all over again just so you can display one of your masterpieces! Don't worry about the commute to CA, I am sure you can handle it. And I am sure the fijian man won't mind, he loves beautiful cakes as much as I do!

It IS the Losee's backyard. If their sprawling grounds to the river can be called a "backyard." Sigh.
I like the idea of all the different flavors; commitment should be for the marriage only.

I hope FijianMan had a good birthday! Your family must be growing so big.

I need to scan the pictures of my favorite cakes, 'cause this one barely cracks the top 10 (if at all.)

please scan the others. i just realized i have this disgusted look on my face right now as i'm writing. i'm horrified and delighted ONCE AGAIN that something that beautiful is humanly possible. how long does something like this take you to do? why are you not the new martha? and when are you going to start YOUR biz? you should totally be on the food network, or style or something. can i pimp you out? man, you're good.

My mom used to make wedding cakes when I was a kid. Helping her with them was one of my favorite things. And, like you, it was only for family and friends or referrals from such. We always thought she should open a business, but she never did. We did have the best birthday cakes of all time, though.
It makes me sad when those gorgeous cakes get eaten. They are like art. Well done!

Azuc,
Need your opinion: Serving that cake on paper plates with plastic forks.

Well, if I had my druthers...but it was a more casual reception.

I specify that they are responsible for plates, napkins, utensils, so whatever they come up with is what it gets served on.

Absolutely fabulous! You are quite the temptress when it comes to cakes...four irresistable flavors in just one cake. I doubt there remained a single crumb.

Funny you should mention that. One of my hardest problems is overcoming "wedding cake prejudice." People simply don't want to try the cake because they've experienced too many sawdust cakes covered in crisco with butter flavoring, or some sort of overly-sweet concoction that makes you gag. After I, or someone else, convinces them to try it, it usually disappears.

When I left there was still a chunk of lemon-poppyseed and other various pieces lying around.

I like this cake because I got to buy a new set of golf clubs and pre-order Arrested Development Season 3.

I wish I knew back when I got married. The cake matches my boquet exactly...my fav flowers...star gazers....

GORGEOUS... you are AMAZING!

And...now I'm salivating for the cakes (carrot, cheesecake and dulce de leche....) very mean to do to a preggers lady.

As always, you are amazing....If you were only present for Famous Amos's wedding last Saturday. We had a serious cake melt down and all I could think was "Where in the H is Carina when I need her?!?!?!?!"

SEE? This is why there are emergency cake calls! People don't believe me :)
