Halfway Through

I was overcome today with a craving that would not go away. That is why, if you could see me right now, you would see me eating Brie out of the rind with a knife. I started putting it on crackers and then just said hell with it and am eating it straight.

Anyone want an open box of crackers?

p.s. If any of you freak out because I'm eating soft cheeses and I'm pregnant well then you are cordially invited to stuff it, or, allow me to stuff it. Pass the apricots; our iron constitution can handle wimpy French foods.

I never heard of the "no soft cheese" thing when I was pregnant. I would have died. All I ate (besides poptarts and corndogs...ummm nutritious) was goat cheese. I should have named my daughter Rondulet.

Have you ever had it melted in the microwave and eaten of mango or aproicot slices sprinkled w/ cayenne. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I have not and now I will have to try.

Yeah, call me insane, but I think so many of the food warnings given are hyperbole based on hysteria. I'm not going to take up tequila shots, but if I want a cold cut sandwich, I'm going to have one.

I would eat those crackers, but I'm probably allergic to them.

Would you be willing to share the Brie? I can be there in about 9 hours.

I paid the price later that night with some intense intestinal complaints. There was much grimacing and thoughts of regret.

To apply the phrase loosely: It's ALWAYS the doughnuts.

First ingredients in the crackers: Wheat flour, whole wheat flour, wheat meal. So those are out. Still, I will share my Brie with you anytime.

I love the Brie with apricot preserves and a bit of brown sugar. I have to go buy Brie now, so that I can eat that for dinner.

Baked brie, mango salsa, on toasted artisan bread. Giddy up.

I snuck Brie all through my last pregnancy. My husband would freak out when he would find a half eaten round in the back of the fridge but I would just hide it somewhere else and nibble away. My favorite way to eat brie is baked inside of pastry! Gahhhh....

The soft cheese hysteria was the straw that broke the camels back with my MIL 4 yrs ago when we had our 1st and last blow-up. I thank the Feta.

I'd offer crackers but just got done watching a TiVo'd Oprah with Dr. Oz showing me a fatty liver. I might start label reading and walking 10,000 steps a day. Or I may not.

Huh. This soft cheese thing was news to me. Now you tell me!

While I do not dislike brie per se, I very much do not understand why some people seem to love it. I was disappointed at a recent social cocktail reception when the baked pastry was filled with brie instead of something more palatable, like sugary berries.

I tell you now because like many of the dire warnings and consequences we've been issued, I take it all with a grain of salt. Beyond smoking and hard alcohol, I don't know if there's much that you should avoid. Eat good foods, eat well, take care of yourself, and let your body dictate the way.

That's why tonight, instead of a cookie or ice cream snack, I'm eating a bowl of risotto.
