Nothing delights us (El Guille and me) more than unexpected packages at the door. We opened one to discover two adorable hats and a blanket to match from the lovely, talented, and shockingly amusing La Yen. Her timing is, naturally, impeccable, as is her handiwork.

Oh YES! We both approve! So cute! So warm! Thank you La Yen!

Things didn't keep going El Guille's way, however. This morning he was having some serious problems making his crayons work. Any guesses why?

If you guessed that it's because he was trying to use the cloth crayons from inside the quiet activity book, you'd be right.

Just because they aren't "real" or contain "non-transferable pigments" doesn't mean they shouldn't work!
Most distressing.

When I awoke this morning and peeked out the window I saw great, big, giant flakes of snow falling. Happiness is the beautiful kind of snow. I opened El Guille's door and told him to run look out the window.
"It's Christmas!" he shouted, "Where's the Christmas tree?"
Can you imagine having to wait the equivalent of one third of your lifespan for another Christmas to arrive? No wonder it always seemed so far away.
I'm still not ready to give up winter (check back in March.)

I am glad he is over his fear of Christmas Trees.

Oh the frustration of a non -transferable pigment!

Poor Guille! That last pic captured his pint-sized angst perfectly.

I agree with Emmelyn. That picture is perfect.

Glad you liked it! Wish I could have been there for la ducha.

At least the fabric crayons don't result in toxic drool all over your sunday shirt.

So I go out of town for the weekend and somehow I've not only missed your shower, but I also missed three posts!

Hope you enjoyed your party--I loved the pics.

Love the pics on this post as well. The fabric crayon frustration is so sad and yet perfect at the same time!

La Yen and her nachos... now hats. Amazing woman she art. LOVE the progressive pics of Gilly getting frustrated - I shouldn't but I do.

The last pic of El Guille - Oh brother! I shouldn't laugh, poor kid, but that's funny. Dag-gone-fake crayons! They'll get you everytime.

But me likey the 65-70 degree weather that is creeping back into town.

Six weeks of mock snow [anything less than two inches] and I'm ready to run winter out of town.

The knit hats are great though...

Talk about easy clean-up! haha

Btw, I just bought myself the Best of Cheri Oteri from SNL, and I just know that when I see her cat lady skit, I'll be thinking of you!! :)

It's hard being four... He is seriously so stinking cute.

To be fair, those crayons look pretty real. They'd probably stump me. And I have the IQ of a five year old. The maturity of one, too...

I must be a terrible mom, but I laughed out loud at the pictures of Guille's color frustration! I've seen all of my boys make that same face (I can even hear what Guille must have sounded like), though not because of fabric crayons. I had to laugh because my boys would get so frustrated but were too stubborn to let me help them understand what was wrong. Boys are so delightful!
