Day Out

Things have gotten complicated over at Casa de Azúcar. Please excuse the low quantity of entries.

While we’re waiting for our regularly scheduled program to resume, please enjoy these pictures of our Day Out with Thomas. Or don’t enjoy them; your pleasure is strictly optional and not a state requirement.

It was honestly not too bad. Disorganized? Yes. Trains piped with REALLY LOUD children’s music that was apparently not loud enough so that halfway through the journey they turned it up HIGHER? Yes. Face-painting, storytelling, over-priced Thomas gear? Yes. It was held at an actual train depot. Imagine my joy when El Guille rejected the face painting, storytelling, and other ‘kid-friendly fun stations’ and was the only child interested in the actual trains. He examined diesels, steam engines, coaches, and freight trains, ignoring the kid-centered hubbub.

Cool kid, that one.

This is both of us doing our "we're too cool for this train" schtick. You like?

Your tongue looks like a hot dog.

Lucky you to get the car with the actual seats. When we went to see Thomas (several years ago, mind you--I keep putting it off when S asks when we're going again), we sat on the cars with benches.

The trains were the best part. Scratch that face paint crap.

I can't believe how big Guille is. I remember when he was barely teetering aroud the office . . . and now he's a little boy. I guess they do get bigger.

Yep, you're a talented tongue-sticker-outer, and it looks like a hot dog.

I've been to Thomas the Tank Engine day. I've always wanted to take a pin and pop the puffed up Conductor guy.

Some tongue woman, fo sho!

El Guille is seriously too cool.

Did the train smell like wet socks and damp dogs? It did when we did the Polar Express. NEVER AGAIN!

But was Percy there?

And did Guille ask for Percy?

El Guille looks like he's way too cool for school. Or Thomas.

A seat at the cool table? Thank you!
I'd say from the looks of your face that it's better than a seat on train that is made cool by the coolest of all cool little boys, El Guille...what a cutie!

I love that he looks just like you. No wonder he's so adorable. That train just looks like it reeks... glad you survived... with tongue intact.

I know this all too well! The splendors of quirky children. I love, love your fun blog. And I think our parents knew eachother from an old Spanish branch in Provo and of course I think we had German together in high school. And last of all I read Dave H. post on California envy and laughed my head off- it was dead on and brought back memories of wishing I could break dance as well as my California cousins.
