Help with a Shower?

I need to help throwing a baby shower; it seems I'm fresh out of great ideas lately.

The shower is at work, this Wednesday, and I can't spend too much money. Yes, it's in a conference room, so we need to make it not look so much like a conference room. Do you have ideas on cute decorations that wouldn't cost too much, but yet look classy and awesome? I do have rubber ducky cake pins pictured above from Darlybird.com, should I use or not use? Our showerette is having a girl, their first baby, and this might possibly be their ONLY shower, so I'd like to make it special.

Somedays I got the party mojo, and somedays I don't. Help me Internets!

Oh, and catch me and just one of my selfish obsessions over at Segullah today.

Here is a baby shower that I went to. It was so simple, yet you could tell she really paid attention to the details. My favorite? The drink. Sprite with cut up cucumbers. So refreshing! She found those lanterns at Michael's for $1 each! (if I remember correctly) http://martawrites.blogspot.com/2009/04/baby-shower-details.html

Try a Moroccan theme. Or maybe let her take a nap for 30 minutes under the table. Those seemed to be big hits.

I'm not sure how....but maybe since it's in an office, you could make it office themed, but with cool office stuff. Like if you could get an empty water cooler bottle and fill it with punch (if you have a water cooler that is), make a onesie with a design that is a "hi my name is..." name tag on the front, use shredded paper for decor--like bundled together and hung from ceilings in lieu of tissue paper pom poms, black and white color theme...this is sounding kinda lame...but suuuper. Good luck.

helium ballons - adds shape, lots of colour and takes us space and co-ordinate with matching plates, cups and serviettes. crisp white table cloth with some relavent sprinkles for the table, eg ducks, pink baby binkies and so on (easy to find in craft stores)

Oh and serve pink lemonade!

YOu could do a clothes line with onesies, bibs, and socks clothes pinned to it. It doubles as decoration and a gift! It could even be a game too...

Martha's tissue paper flowers always look nice and like they were hard to do (they aren't):

You can go with coordinating tablecloths, and whatnot.

Fresh flowers are always nice- easy decoration and fun for her to have on her desk afterwards.

Diaper cakes are actually easy to make and have bit "wow" factor:

I'm not a big fan of party games, but one "game" that is fun (and passive to play) is to buy little plastic babies (you can get them at places that have cake decorating supplies or party stores) and freeze them in ice cubes. The guests then use the ice cubes in their drinks and the first one who's baby is "born" (i.e. free from the ice) gets a prize.

I should have read your blog earlier. If I would have known about this shower stress, I would have intervened! :( I thought the whole thing was a hit regardless of if the decor made there in time! We laughed, we talked, we played, we ate great food and she got great presents that she would not have had otherwise. I think it scored a 10! :) Thanks for your help.
