True confession time: I have had the new Lower Lights album sitting next to my computer for two months, maybe even longer, since all time has slipped away into a crazy whirlpool.
I think I was waiting for the perfect day to tuck into a hymn revival set, which doesn't seem like summer fare; I needed the nights to turn cold, days with the window open, bright colors on the mountains. And this week was it.
Two of my favorite hymns get the revival treatment (Lead Kindly Light and Nearer, My God, to Thee) as well as spirituals, like Hank Williams' I Saw the Light. I love to pick out my friends' Deb Fotheringham and Mindy Gledhill's voices (BAM those names just dropped) but there are loads of new contributors on the album, too, like Brooke White and Stephanie Mabey (whom I do not know, but I've heard unsubstantiated rumors they are lovely people.) I'm genuinely enjoying the new arrangements and classic melodies.
Not a moment too soon, either, with The Lower Lights closing the last Rooftop Concert of the season this Friday night in Provo. I'm so looking forward to the show!

We love their music and are trying to get there on Friday but with two unpredictable kids who knows what will happen. I promise we would listen to it frequently and dance and sing along with passion!
I live WAY out in the mission field, so I've never even heard of these people. But, I do like music, and I usually like church music, so it sounds cool.
