Have you seen that guy in the Honda commercial that follows the same path every morning, leaving the same palm print on the wall, a callous on his wife’s cheek from his daily goodbye kiss? The names, even genders, have been changed but I just found out that that commercial is true.
I’ve had the same car for ten years now.
I’ve been wearing heels for twice as long.
What happens when you have ten years of the same nearly daily habit?
First the heel goes into the car.
That heel hits the same spot everyday for ten years.
Note the carpet wearing away.
Yes, that’s asphalt.

When you say, "Yes, that's asphalt," do you mean there's a hole in your car from putting your heel in the same place, and we're looking at the street below your car? Can I call you Mrs. Flintstone now?
I have a similar hole in my carpet, and I can't seem to find good floor mats that will stay put.
Also, I've always been impressed with those who wear heels while driving stick.

beautiful shoes. i never wear heals because i feel like i'm in not-so-ancient china when women's feet were bound. that's why i love the wide toe box of my earth shoes. they make the cutest varieties---i even have black patent leather ones. but, they don't make heels.
Sexy shoes! My stupid car mats never seem to want to stay in place so no worries over wearing a hole in them.

i can't believe i wrote "heals" !! what a blatant typo. or just a blatant blip.
I love these little reminders of how un-exciting we are. For me it's the dirty little path on the carpet from kitchen, to bathroom to bedroom.
Also the nasty corner on our nice leather couches that is the best movie watching seat in the house. The couch is in otherwise great condition but for this one corner which is faded, stained and smushed totally flat. It looks awful but reminds me of all the cozy stay-in-saturday's we've had.

You've had the same car for 10 years? And the only flaw I can see in that floor is a hole in the mat from your heels? THAT, my friend, is impressive. My heels (and hat) are off to you, friend.
