This morning as I did a little work on the computer, El Guille was on the floor playing with his trains. He'd set up the track in a complex set of interlocking ovals and was pushing his toys around the track. El Guille started singing. It was a song I have never played for him, never sung around him. I could not believe what I was hearing:

What is it about a four year old's brain? There can be 25 things going on at once, and they will pick--no sponge up every single word and detail of it all, and 'try it out' when you least expect it. We've learned the fine art of tuning things out (probably BECAUSE we have 4 year olds)!
One time I came home from school to find my husband proudly teaching our daughter to sing along with the Fugees "Killing Me Softly". She was barely two. It was kind of funny, but kind of not.
Ah yes. Guitar Hero is raising a whole new generation of heavy metal enthusiasts! But if I hear "Slow Ride" one more time....
That's just the thing: I don't even like Kiss. Other Half and I have never even played it on Guitar Hero because we don't care for the song.
However, I have a new appreciation.
It turns out that his tia is teaching him things on the sly.
That's Jersey's fave pose, too, the rock 'n' roll fingers. Jersey *loves* KISS. And Queen. And it wasn't her tia teaching her; it was her abuela.

My kids love Queen. Specifically Bohemian rhapsody. I play the CD in the car, and we all do the "Wayne's World" head bop with the music. We get some weird looks on the freeway.

Way to go! I've played my fav. music around the house & in the car ever since my kids were little, and what do you know, we have about the same tastes in music. Sometimes I play my music (usu. via You Tube these days) a bit too loud when we're cleaning house, but it seems to get everyone in sinc and the cleaning gets done w/o too much fuss.
(BTW the luncheon was great fun and the marshmellows- superb! I had a few in my hot choc. last night. Yum!)
Dude, your son totally rocks. And thank you, because I feel that every deploying Soldier should be sent off with rock and roll fingers.
By the way, I have never gotten a digital sendoff before. Truly an historic occasion.
